15 cents more...
I sent out my first illustration postcard to a few select buyers of illustrations that I'm really hoping to work with. I printed out a 5" x 7" because I wanted more real estate to show my work. Well just so you know fellow illustrators, it costs $.49 to mail a 5" x 7" instead of $.34 for a 4" x 6".

New logo - Perkin Biomedical Services
After. Ta-Dah! |
![]() |
Before my magic. |
Perkins Bio Medical Service came to me for help with their website. The logo they had was pretty good but it needed a little tweaking. It was missing clarity and focus. I recommended making Perkins larger removing the LLC and extra punctuation and then fitting Biomedical under Perkins. I also incorporated the two colors from the icon to make Perkins priority one biomedical service priority two. The final result was a much stronger logo that had a much clear point of interest.
It was really great working with Meegan and Shane and I think we made some good stuff that's really going to help them.

Auction - Bent But Not Broken
Bent But Not Broken 11x14in oil on linen
Starting bid is only $40.
This painting began with a story of a group of flowers all together in a green vase. Because of the hurt and betrayal of the rose leaving, one of the flowers was bent. The bent flower, along with the other flowers in the vase were not broken and would be fine unlike the cowardly rose that just lied on the table.
Every few weeks I’ll put another painting up for auction.
How to Bid:
- Painting is unframed
- Minimum bidding begins at $40 - yep, that's it!
- Bidding increments of $10
- No reserve price. Winning bid gets the painting
- Just bid in the comment section below
- Shipping is not included
- Bidding will end Tuesday morning April 8th, 2014 at 10am Eastern.
Good luck! I hope you win.
Alla Prima Step-by-Step Christmas Cookie
I enjoyed a wonderful little painting session in my studio between Christmas and New Years with two amazing artists. Our 6 year old and 4 year old. We each did a painting of one of my wife's delicious Christmas cookies beautifully decorated by our three lil' elves.
I started out by determining I wanted the cookie to be the main focus of the painting so I made it fill the panel. I roughly placed the cookie on the picture plane with a mixture of cad. red, ult. mar. blue and a little white to lighten it. Then I painted some of the red cloth with a mixture of cad red and aliz crimson.
I added the dark shape in the upper left corner to make the rest of the red seem brighter and to draw your attention back to the cookie. Next I roughed in all of the delicious M+Ms.
Refined the shapes and started modeling the form.
Brought out the golden of the cookie and added shadows to ground it. Sharpened edges between the colorful candies and the frosting. Lastly I added thicker passages of white to the frosting to give it some height and texture.

Here is a recent logo I complete for a publishing company in Massachusetts. They were relaunching their stationery line and we worked together to develop this clean and modern logo type.
